Prototype 1.5 got released!

Filed under: General Programming, Product News — pwrighta @ 9:55 am

There wasn’t a whole lot of noise surrounding this, but recently the Prototype library version 1.5 was released. If you’re not a programmer, this is the set of code that does all those nifty highlights, fades and other cool Ajax effects in Gmail and a plethora of other applications.

The biggest deal here is that the project is really maturing well, and given that it’s a mainstay of almost all the AJAX apps out there, that’s great news. They have a new website (prototypejs.org), much better and complete API documentation, a blog and at long last a contributions guide.

I love the prototype library, primarily because it’s so tightly integrated into Rails.
