Stupid ass British Government gets even more ludicrous

I don’t live in the UK anymore. I happily turned my back on the country of my birth years ago and haven’t look back. One of the reasons I was so gleeful about leaving is the stupidity of the British Government. I mean, this is the ridiculous bunch of inept muppets that loosened immigration procedures for IT professionals after they amended income tax law to complete screw those of us that had the drive and enough brain cells to get off our ass and go into business for ourselves. Apparently we weren’t in business paying our own training costs, travel costs, hardware costs etc etc, but were instead ‘disguised employees’ whatever the hell that means.

Anyway, in the latest breathtaking display of self-rectum examing ineptitude, the UK government are to outlaw possession of hacking tools (Source: Darknet). If you own a crow bar, a favored tool for breaking through locked doors, that’s fine. If you own a baseball bat, a wonderful tool which many put to use bashing in people’s skulls, that’s fine. Own a piece of software that can port scan, and you break the law.

What.
The.
Fuck!

Seriously. Let’s say I want to run a tool to run on my own network and alert me to open ports on my machines, security holes in my network. Well, that tool could be used to break into computers - it’s a port scanner after all - and so I just broke the law. Doesn’t matter one jot that I wrote it myself. Doesn’t count one iota that my ‘intent’ in the tools development and ownership is above board. Nope, according to the UK government I’m a nasty turd and deserve to be punished.

Morons.
